A true story of a seeker, a teacher, and the unfolding of the unlimited Self

In 1981, Priyadevi trained as a Transcendental Meditation teacher. What followed was a lifetime of going on and on, through inspiring experiences, deep doubts, unexpected grief, and painful detachment.

With honesty and warmth, she shares her journey through the promise and challenges of spiritual life: the teachers and teachings, the hope and disillusionment, the search for truth, and the steady pull toward the Higher Self.

Going On and On is a memoir of awakening, a heartfelt account of how the inner light remains, even when truth and right action seem to fall apart. It is a story for meditators, spiritual seekers, and anyone who has ever questioned, hoped, or kept going, knowing that something deeper is always calling.

Chapter I

The Call of the Master

The search for the higher self is a journey that many spiritual disciples undertake to escape the illusions of the material world.

But in fact, we should not call it a search because we do not find it when we look. It is more about having the right attitude of mind and being ready so that the higher self can show itself.

For me, that confirmation came in a way I did not expect, and it is where this book begins. After the teacher training course, I asked the Maharishi about the Self and the house of Brahman. While he explained it, a feeling was in the air, a feeling of going on and on, and it was so strong that I did not hear a word of his explanation. When he stopped and looked at me, I told him I felt just like going on and on. He nodded.

That nod was the master.

He did not explain it, and I did not understand what happened. But I followed it. I went on. Looking back, I can smile at how I followed an instruction I had not even heard.

The story continues in the book.

“You are, in fact, three-in-one:
the one you think you are (body),
the one others think you are (mind),
and the one you really are (Atma).”
